Propolis is harvested from the sap or resin on needle-leaved trees or evergreens and use it as a coating to build their hives.
Researchers have identified more than 300 compounds in propolis. The majority of these compounds are forms of polyphenols; antioxidants that fight disease and damage in the body. Propolis contains the polyphenols called flavonoids. Propolis is a supplement that has been shown to be useful in wound healing, and provides protection from some bacteria, viruses and fungi.
